Course Description

Starting a business can be a stressful, anxiety-ridden, and isolating process. Developing a strong foundation helps keep you on track. According to the Small Business Administration, 43% of all small businesses are owned by women and in Georgia, 41% are owned by women. This course is for you if you want to start a business or started a business and want to ensure you have a strong foundation on which to grow. You are a perfect candidate for this program if you have an early stage business, operated less than two years, or have limited revenue.

As a part of the program, participants will have a one hour pitch session with Precious Williams 13-time national elevator pitch champion who successfully appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank” and CNN. Additionally, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter will host class participants at its 10^th Anniversary pitch competition event on April 1, 2023, celebrating its CODE R.E.D. (Revitalization Economic Development) Business Mentorship Program. Finalists from the pitch competition will be awarded first, second, and third place prizes. Specific location details will be provided at a later date.

The Women in Business: Pumps, Plans, & Profit program includes 8 hours of instruction delivered over a period of 4 weeks. Sessions will be held once a week for 2 hours each.

Learner Outcomes

Develop and refine your business plan & elevator pitch.
Determine key considerations and steps when starting a business.
Identify steps needed to define your target market and develop a marketing plan.
Learn how to establish a solid financial foundation for your business – bank accounts, budgeting, and cash flow.
